We saw a need for a place where people from all backgrounds could come and get a holistic view of our profession. We are striving to create a page that will grow in depth and breath beyond just instagram to become a movement for the advancement of Podiatric Medicine as a whole. @podmedadventures focuses on a wide range of topics including: Politics and Legislation, recruitment efforts for new medical students, education on the road to Podiatric Medical School, education and medical advancements in the field, new products and innovations to increase product knowledge and options to patients and physicians, student features, physician features, and live interviews to gain further perspective on the day-to-day life of a practicing Podiatric Specialist.
We try to shift the focus from individuality or focusing on one particular Podiatric Medical School. We strive to take a global approach to reach a diverse range of students, practitioners, industry professionals, and the general population at large. We believe that a global approach to furthering the visibility and mission of Podiatric Medicine is something that is a huge need right now.

Shalvi Prasad founded PodMedAdventures in the hopes of spreading awareness about Podiatric Medicine and Surgery as a career option and to create a one-stop shop for pre-pods, current students, practicing physicians, and industry leaders. Working with underserved communities on an interdisciplinary team is near and dear to her heart and she strives to help patients as a physician and advocate in legislation. Shalvi is interested in politics and legislation because it’s important to not only advocate for patients, but that it’s necessary to be proactive about the future of the profession and to ensure that the best bills and laws are being put into action by those who will be impacted most. Shalvi believes that recruitment is important because the field needs more representation, visibility, and value.
Ms. Prasad stumbled onto the career when she worked as a pre-health student advisor. After being an Emergency Department scribe, managing and volunteering at clinics, and shadowing throughout her undergraduate career and during her gap years, she quickly realized that Podiatric Medicine was the “hidden gem” of medicine. Ms. Prasad wants to build visibility, inclusion, and representation within the Podiatric Medicine field.

Rahul Mishra chose the field of Podiatric Medicine due to his interests in Orthopedic surgery, sports medicine, geriatrics, and diabetic limb salvage. Throughout life and undergrad, Mr. Mishra has been exposed to various aspects of diabetes and the suffering that patients have to endure due to lack of education and proper care. The growing number of diabetic patients and their risk for severe amputations drives Mr. Mishra to strive to be a Podiatric Physician who can impact these patient’ lives and improve their quality of life. Podiatric Medicine is a wonderful field for those who want to see sports medicine patients, diabetic wound care patients, and orthopedic trauma cases all within the same day.
