There are several aspects within Podiatric Medicine with one of them being reconstructive surgery. Read below to see insight from Dr. Phong Le about this area within podiatric medicine and surgery.
1. Tell us about yourself!
Hello everyone, my name is Dr. Phong Le, originally from Vietnam and came to the US with my family at the age of 4. I am one of three siblings. When I’m not practicing medicine, I love spending time with my wife Sammi and our three children, Ethan, Carter and Zoe. Some fun hobbies are working on my Honda civic type R, occasionally racing on the track. I currently practice in Northern California in Sacramento and Elk grove. I am the only podiatrist in our orthopedic group consisting of 4 orthopedic surgeons, one non operative sports medicine specialist, one PMR physician and two amazing physician assistants. I currently volunteer my time as section chief of podiatry Sutter Medical Center Sacramento, CPMA secretary/treasurer, IFAF faculty lecturer, WFAC faculty lecturer, mentor UC Davis students, attending physician for NP students at Samuel Merritt University, Methodist Family Residency Program and the SFVA Podiatry Residency Program. I started Northern California Orthopaedic Associates with my orthopedic partner, Dr. Ron James in 2014 from the ground up with no financial help from any banks as they were not offering start up loans for MDs or DPMS at the time and no business background. We started by renting out a few rooms out of a pain management specialists office in order to treat patients for a few months. Currently, we have three office locations where our providers practice to service the community.

8. What are some criteria you use to determine who will be a good surgical candidate?
9. What is your favorite type of reconstructive surgery?
10. What was your path in deciding what your current practice is like?
11. With having your own private practice, what was that process like and what advice do you have for people who want to start their own practice?
12. As an attending who works with students and residents, what is your advice?
I would like to end with, we as physicians should due our moral duty to make this
world a better place than where it was when we started.
